Riser Bars

Riser bars can be supplied to reduce the gap between the treads.

Within the UK there is a regulation that states that the gap between the treads cannot be larger than 100mm.  This is to prevent young children slipping through the gap.

The C20 riser bars consist of a steel bar which is fitted horizontally to the rear of the tread.  This keeps the riser open whilst reducing the gap.

The steelwork is powder coated the same as the rest of the staircase steelwork.

These riser bars can be added to the order above.

Please check their requirement with your building inspector.

These can be fitted once the stair is assembled but if they are ordered separately, a delivery charge would be due.

Frequently asked Questions

Your opening in the floor above should be at least 50mm larger than the spiral diameter you are purchasing.  It needs to be larger than the diameter to allow for knuckle gap clearance as you use the spiral.   This opening in the floor can be circular or square.  For example a 1500mm diameter spiral would need a 1550mm diameter or 1550 x 1550mm square hole minimum.

This spiral staircase is made to order and is produced in Italy.  Delivery period do fluctuate during the year but are generally set at between 4-6 weeks from order.

The diameter you require will depend on a number of elements.  The application, the opening you have / can have within the floor and building regulations.  If you have building control involved in your project, please check what diameter they require.  Generally speaking, smaller diameters for lower use and larger diameter for more frequent use.

Normally a day for two people is enough to install the staircase.  This of course depends on the competency of the individuals.   Many clients opt to employ a builder/ joiner to install but they can be fitted by an experienced DIYer.

The entry and exit points are a crucial element to any spiral staircase.  This varies a little depending on the diameter and the number of risers you have.  Please see the relationship between the top tread and tread 1 under the rotation tab directly above.
